BTP Application

There are two different applications depending on your graduate or undergraduate status. If you have questions on which application to submit, please contact Lynda Pullen, lpullen@pdx.edu, prior to beginning your application.

UNDERGRADUATE Applicants

Undergraduates must apply to both the BTP program and to PSU with separate applications.

Once your account is created, log in and click "Create a New Application," then select "BTP Elementary - Undergraduate ONLY" from the drop-down menu.

Select "Undergraduate Transfer Student"; declare Liberal Studies as your major; and select Fall 2020 as the term start.

Pre-Application Information:

  • Must have a minimum of 120 transferable credits.
  • Completion of prerequisites is required prior to program start: MTH 211, 212, 213; LIB 428
  • Official transcripts from all institutions previously attended are required as part of the official application. Transcripts should be sent to the Portland State University Admission Office, PO Box 751 Portland, OR 97207-0751. Electronic official transcripts should be emailed from your university to admissions@pdx.edu
    • To complete your application, you are required to submit official transcripts from every institution of higher education that you have ever attended. This is true regardless of whether or not you earned a credential from that institution, or if those credits were transferred to another school. Please review the transcript requirements.
  • Transcripts are due by the application submission deadline. Applications without official transcripts submitted will be considered incomplete and may be disqualified from the review process or may not be reviewed in time for you to be admitted.
  • Students will have any former transcripts on file automatically pulled and uploaded to their current GSE application. You do not need to re-submit these transcripts. 
  • Students DO need to submit official transcripts if:
    • You attended another institution after your enrollment at PSU
    • You completed any additional coursework not reflected in your previously submitted transcripts
  • Identify two people to recommend you; one must be from your principal or supervisor.
  • Ensure official transcripts listed above include any prerequisite courses taken
  • Ensure your résumé is up to date
  • Gather official test scores or plan to take the National Evaluation Series Elementary Education sub tests I and II. Scores are required prior to fall term 2020.
    Note: If English is not your first language you may request extended time.
  • Please plan to take the American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). Scores are required prior to fall term 2020.

GRADUATE Applicants

Select the name of your program in your CollegeNet application:

“Bilingual Teacher Pathway Program BTP - Elementary, MEd"

Pre-Application Information:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university by end of summer term 2020
  • Completion of prerequisites is required prior to program start: MTH 211, 212, 213; LIB 428
  • Unofficial transcripts are accepted by the Graduate School of Education for the program application. You must submit transcripts for all institutions previously attended, regardless of whether you earned a degree or not. If admitted, you must send official transcripts to the Office of Graduate Admissions in order to register for classes.
    Acceptable unofficial transcripts are:
    • Web-based transcripts downloaded from an institution: institution and student name must be visible on transcripts
    • Photocopies of official transcripts: these must include the front and back of all pages, including transcript key
    Previous applicants:
    • If you’ve previously submitted official transcripts to PSU, you are still required to upload unofficial transcripts to complete your application.
    After you are admitted, you must submit official transcripts to:
