PSU Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society

It is the goal of the Portland State Chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS) to bring together students and faculty with a love of chemistry. We aim to broaden the horizons of our members through interaction with the local Portland Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in both social events and educational opportunities. We strive to provide a social outlet for our members by participating in chemistry-themed extracurricular activities. We endeavor to enrich the community through outreach programs with local K-12 students, as well as with the general populace.

We value the practices of hard work and teamwork, and foster a community among chemists by creating a welcoming environment to any and all nerds, geeks, and other science enthusiasts. Our chapter meets three times a quarter to hear about current research by distinguished scientists, upcoming research and volunteer opportunities around campus and the city, as well as to socialize with others within the science realm.
