Core Facilities

Access to state-of-the-art instrumentation, research facilities, and support facilities are an important aspect of conducting research.

The Department is housed primarily in the Collaborative Life Sciences Building and the Science Research and Teaching Center, which provide exceptionally designed teaching labs and classrooms, as well as unparalleled research labs and infrastructure, and offer students the premier science educational experience in the Pacific Northwest.

Facilities on the Portland State campus include state-of the-art gas and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry instrumentation, 400 and 600 MHz NMR spectrometers, phosphorimaging, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, lithography, clean-room facilities, an exposure chamber, and various portable analytical instruments. Please use the links below to explore some of the facilities and instrumentation available to researchers in the department of chemistry, as well as to outside users. Use of instrumentation may be subject to fees, a list of the University's approved fees and corresponding policies are available on the University Financial Services website.
