Natan Meir, Judaic Studies faculty, was named a 2016-17 New York Public Library Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center Fellow. During his fellowship, Meir will research and write his book, Republic of Beggars: The Jewish Destitute, Disabled, and Dispossessed in Eastern Europe, which explores the lives and roles of the outcasts of East European Jewish society in the modern period up to the Holocaust.
