Certificate Program: Construction Contracting

There are three primary decisions owners must make when contemplating how to best deliver a new project: What delivery method to use, what type of competition to hold, and what type of contract to utilize.  This course examines options for delivery method including: Design-Bid-Build, CMGC (CM at Risk), Multiple Prime, Design-Build, and Public Private Partnerships (PPP) and the advantages and disadvantages of each.  

This course will further examine why there is such excitement about integrated project teams and Progressive Design-Build delivery,  as well as explore how different forms of contracts can influence behaviors and affect project outcomes. Participants will learn how the design and construction landscape is changing and gain an understanding of the current trends and behaviors that are influencing the construction industry through real life case studies and interactive class activities.

Instructor: Theresa Bauccio-Teschlog
Theresa Bauccio-TeschlogTheresa is the Purchasing Manager for the City of Everett, Washington. She has over 21 years of supply chain management experience, of which over 18 years have been spent in public procurement. She enjoys conducting Requests for Proposals for service contracts and administering construction projects from cradle to grave. Theresa has participated in the Specifications, Protests, and Construction Contracting Delivery Methods Global Best Practice Task Force teams. She is a past Washington State Chapter of NIGP Membership Secretary and is the current Education and Research Chair.

Theresa is a graduate of Seattle University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a dual concentration in both Operations Management and Marketing. She also holds the designation of Certified Professional Public Buyer, as well as a Certificate in Construction Contracting from Portland State University.
