(Portland, OR) On September 29, 2011 Student Activities and Leadership Programs (SALP) and Campus Recreation at Portland State University (PSU) will host the 21st Annual Party in the Park in the PSU Park Blocks, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Founded in 1990, Party in the Park promotes student leadership and involvement in student activities and organizations. It is the biggest recruitment event on campus and is one of the most celebrated traditions at PSU. Each year the event draws thousands of students to the Park Blocks outside of the Smith Memorial Student Union to celebrate the beginning of the school year featuring over one hundred student organizations and departments that facilitate student engagement.

Party in the Park will offer free food, live entertainment, information, and exciting opportunities for students. Party in the Park presents a perfect opportunity for new and returning students to meet thousands of other PSU students and learn about opportunities to get involved within the PSU campus community.

Organizations will host display tables. Students visiting these can collect a wooden “involvement” chip. After collecting one “involvement” chip of each of four colors, Party in the Park attendees will be treated with free Lebanese lunch, beverages, and ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s. Various PSU faculty and staff will be supporting the event as “celebrity servers” helping students navigate the event.

This year we are excited to present the bands Sleeper Agent, Morning Teleportation, and The Shivas for live entertainment.

Come and enjoy the fun, food, opportunities, and festival at the 21st Annual Party in the Park! This is the event that you won’t want to miss! The opportunities to get involved will be endless! Your favorite PSU party awaits—see you in the park!
