PSU ASCE and CEE Host National President-Elect Kristina Swallow

PSU ASCE Student Chapter and Civil and Environmental Engineering hosted ASCE National President Elect Kristina Swallow on Friday October 29.  Following a description of PSU ASCE competitive teams, Kristina briefed the students on ASCE's key initiatives and provided career advice.  The ASCE Oregon Section hosted Kristina the evening before for the annual section gala event.  In the photo below (L-R, Evan Kristof (ASCE Advisor and Senior Instructor), Kristina SwallowASCE National President Elect,  Chris Monsere, CEE Department Chair,  Alice Root (PSU ASCE President), Ana Esquino (PSU ASCE Secretary), Polina Polikakhina (PSU ASCE Steel Bridge Captain), Chris Carroll (PSU ASCE Vice-President). 


Portland State's CEE is at the forefront of improving the lives of the citizens of Portland, the state of Oregon and the world.  Since 1974, PSU CEE has graduated 2,331 engineers who contribute to the vibrancy and quality of life in the Portland region and beyond. Our 26 faculty are researching methods to improve water quality, better forecast droughts and extreme events, designing and planning better and connected cities, and making our infrastructure more resilient. Over 400 students are enrolled in the programs and department has research expenditures exceeding $3.2 million annually.
