Dr. Tong Zhang, Executive Director of Oregon MESA, "Increasing equity in STEM by bridging the gap between invention and underrepresented students"

Dr. Zhang has a background in scientific research and in working with organizations to create meaningful and sustained social impact. As the Executive Director of Oregon MESA, Dr. Zhang is working to scale the organization to provide invention education to more under-served students in Oregon. Before MESA, she was a founding staff member and COO of Thread, a program providing wrap-around support to under-performing students in Baltimore. Dr. Zhang also previously worked to develop immunotherapies for gynecologic tumors and has a Ph.D. in Immunology from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Washington.
