Information for Supervisors of Student Employees

Hello Supervisors,

In response to COVID-19 and the remote learning environment, we recognize that continuing to employ students is challenging and in some cases not possible right now. Below is guidance from the subcommittee of IMT on student employment and links to resources for student employees and their supervisors. 

PSU is encouraging supervisors of student employees to continue to employ students who express a desire to work when remote work or professional development/service assignments can be arranged. If a supervisor has already communicated to a student that they do not have work for the student, or has told the student that they would be laid off due to COVID-19 emergency and the new remote work environment, Human Resources encourages the supervisor to re-evaluate that decision and contact the student to discuss this further with the student in light of this guidance.


The University Career Center is compiling opportunities for student employee career development tasks that can be completed for their scheduled hours, the initial list of opportunities can be found at: Career Exploration and Development Resources

We will be adding additional resources from partners across campus in the coming days including a D2l shell with activities and tracking information. If you have resources to share, please email them to

If you have remote work opportunities where you could use additional student help and would like to request support from offices looking for hours for their students, please submit them here and we will work on matching units with opporutnities.  If you are looking for hours for your students, please email and will share the results of the form with you as they come in.
