Marilyn Delores Adams, 76, of Kelso passed away July 18, 2013, in Longview.

She was born Sept. 10, 1936, in Longview to George and Mittie Belle (Dooley) Koehmstedt. She had lived in the local area her entire life.

Marilyn earned a bachelor of arts degree through Portland State University. She was a special education teacher at Hudson Park Elementary School in Rainier. She retired in 2000.

She was a member of the Elks, PTA, St. Mary’s Church and the pinochle club. She enjoyed gardening, camping at Lake Mayfield, canning, sewing, traveling and reading. Most of all, her children and grandchildren were her life.

Marilyn was outgoing, generous, loving and, boy, was she the life of the party!

She and Vern Adams were married Oct. 1, 1955, at St. Mary’s Church.

Survivors include daughters Diane (Carl) Timonen of Kelso, Teresa Iversen of Sequim, Wash., Judy (Dave) Leinweber of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Marci Adams of Kelso; son Alan Adams of Longview; brother Alvin (Agnes) Koehmstedt of Garibaldi, Ore.; grandchildren Tommy, Joey, Jordan, Shelby, Josh, Maddie, Morgan and Zac; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life with potluck will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 at 111 Cowlitz Drive, Kelso.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Community Hospice or the March of Dimes.
