Portland State University honored its outstanding student employees April 11 at an awards ceremony in Smith Memorial Student Union.

Thomas Curtis won the top campus award, Student Employee of the Year, and was named Oregon Student Employee of the Year by the Western Association of Student Employment Administrators.

Curtis, an online orientation specialist, was selected from a pool of 92 PSU student employees who were nominated for the campus-wide award, before going on to the statewide competition.

“I have worked at PSU Since 1999, and Tom has initiative like no other student assistant I have had previously,” wrote his supervisor, Hillary Paasch. “Up until two years ago, Online Orientation didn't exist. Hiring Tom allowed us to create a program that is engaging, captivating, pleasing to look at, and really supports the professional brand of PSU.”
