Dear Students,

Happy New Year! I wanted to take a moment to reach out to you to update you all about Winter and Spring terms.

As you know, Winter term is remote and the School of Art + Design will remain fully remote until we receive further guidance from the PSU administration and the State of Oregon. However, we have opened the Mac Lab in FMH for printing only. Currently, there are computer labs in the library and basement of FMH open for student use.

Looking forward to Spring term, the School of Art + Design is devising and hosting an Anti-Racist Art School Colloquium on April 14th, 15th, and 16th. Led by Assistant Professor Ralph Pugay and Social Practice MFA alumnae Roshani Thakore, this event will feature presentations, discussions, workshops, and panels featuring (and for!) A+D students, faculty, staff, and guests from art schools around the country. All are welcome to participate.

As a general reminder, there are various ways to engage with your faculty and the School of Art + Design:

  • Show & Tell
Each Thursday at noon Show & Tell brings in graphic design professionals from near and far to discuss their work.
  • KSMoCA Artist Residency + Lecture Series

Additionally, two new exhibitions featuring A+D students and faculty are set to open at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at PSU in February. The 2020 Arlene Schnitzer Visual Arts Prize exhibition and “Building Community: PSU Art + Design Faculty, Past + Present.” While the museum is currently closed, a virtual 360 and additional online exhibition photographs will be available on the JSMA website in February. Stay tuned to A+D social media for more information.

We miss sharing our classrooms and studio spaces with you all. We are grateful you are all here with us — please reach out if you have questions or need us in any way —
