Architectural Design Studio 7 (ARCH 580): Fall 2015: Design work in a first-year Master of Architecture studio

 

Taught by Professor Nora Wendl, this first-year Master of Architecture course involves advanced Investigations of architectural and urban design issues in concluding series of studios. Projects include the design of private and public buildings which require comprehensive, integrative design development, includes individual criticism, lectures and seminars. This is the first course in a sequence of three: Arch 580Arch 581, and Arch 582, which must be taken in sequence. 

This studio invesitgates a method for approaching design for post-disaster response scenarios.  How can mapping ideitities of place and community aid in the generation of architecture that will support them after catastrophic failures of the built environment and its infrastrucutre? Students explored what it means to inhabit a place post-disaster and strategies for deploying resources and addressing issues of safety and secutiy.
