Last week Portland State University student leaders met with Tom Bull, Executive Director of the Portland State University Alumni Association (PSUAA) and Jimmy Hsu, Student Outreach Coordinator of PSUAA at the Simon Benson House to exchange ideas on how the Alumni Association can best serve students on campus who are, ultimately, future alumni.

This Student Advisory Board will meet monthly to give the PSUAA advice on what kind of events are useful to current students, inform them of potential partnerships and networking opportunities with PSU alums, and what concerns they may have about their future once they graduate from Portland State.

In attendance at this first Student Advisory Board meeting were representatives from different student organizations such as the Student Ambassador Program, ASPSU, Organization of International Students, and Greek Counsel. Other student organizations are encouraged to send representatives to the next Student Advisory Board Meeting.

So far this year the Portland State University Alumni Association hosted a successful Student Etiquette Dinner which connected alumni with students over a four-course dinner, teaching valuable networking skills and proper meal etiquette. A Student Clothing Drive is scheduled for April 24th where current students can pick up professional clothing donated by PSU alums and staff. By connecting alumni and students the PSUAA aims to foster ongoing connections with former students and Portland State University.

Located in the Simon Benson House, PSUAA calls itself "Your Home on Campus,"and that is extended to both current and former students, their families, and the community.
