Scott Burns, emeritus Geology faculty, gave a talk titled “Geology of the Columbia Gorge and the Effects of the 2017 Forest Fire on Landslides” at the National Meeting of the Highway Geology Symposium in Portland, Oct. 21-24. Burns also conducted a terroir tasting of Oregon wines, helped lead an all-day field trip of the Columbia Gorge for 185 geologists and gave the keynote talk titled “Cataclysms on the Columbia, the Great Missoula Floods.”
