Loudreading Post-colonial and Anti-racist Pedagogies
In search of critical forms of architecture, Cruz Garcia and Nathalie Frankowski are deeply invested in the development of new curricula and pedagogical experiments searching for diverse forms of public engagement with architecture, as well as post-colonial imaginaries. Through manifestos, projects, publications, curatorial, and pedagogical experiments they pursue models of Loudreading the possibility of other, pluriversal, anti-racist, intersectional, emancipating worlds.
WAI Architecture Think Tank is an international studio practicing architecture, urbanism and architectural research. Founded in Brussels in 2008 by Puerto Rican educator, designer, artist, curator, educator, author and theorist Cruz Garcia and French educator, designer, artist, curator, author and poet, Nathalie Frankowski, WAI and its parallel artist practice Garcia Frankowski oscillate between continental USA, Puerto Rico, France, and China. They are the authors of Narrative Architecture: A Kynical Manifesto (nai010, 2020), Pure Hardcore Icons: A Manifesto on Pure Form in Architecture (Artifice Press, 2014), Un-Making Architecture: An Anti-Racist Architecture Manifesto, and the upcoming book From Black Square to Black Reason: A Post-Colonial Architecture Manifesto.
