Harney County Archaeology Roadshow & Cultural Crawl

June 27th, 2020 in Harney County Oregon - Canceled

Update as of May 9th 2020:

We've come to the difficult decision to cancel the Harney County Archaeology Roadshow originally scheduled for June 27th. The coronavirus pandemic has interjected so many uncertainties into our daily lives - and we picture much uncertainty in the weeks to come. We decided that trying to organize two large outreach events when agencies, companies, organizations and individuals are struggling to take care of basic needs is, well, not what we should be doing.

We will be reaching out to those who have already registered and donated either refunding your gift, or rolling it over to next year.

In this time of social distancing and school closures we want to come up with new, virtual ways to come together and share knowledge with the community, especially K-12 students now learning from home.  Portland State's Public Archaeology class, which normally hosts student exhibits at the Archaeology Roadshow as a major part of the class experience, is being taught remotely spring term. Without the Roadshow as a capstone of the class, we are seeking ideas for ways students can share archaeology and cultural heritage with the public. Please send us any ideas you may have for ways our PSU students can keep the spirit of the Roadshow alive; and whether any of you would like to be a part of our virtual outreach.
