Step 3: Connect with Campus Virtually

Completing online orientation is just one step toward preparing for a successful first term at Portland State. Resource Centers and PSU staff from across campus will be hosting virtual opportunities to connect before your first term.

Participation in the programs below does not take the place of completing online orientation. Instead, the information shared during these sessions is designed to complement the information included in your orientation. You do not have to already have completed your online orientation to take part in any of the programs below.

Welcome To PSU Webinar


Join PSU’s Academic Advising team during this optional webinar on Monday, November 30th from 10am to 10:30am PST. Meet the advising staff and learn about PSU’s advising pathways. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions about how your advisor can best support you during your time as a PSU student. Family members or those supporting new PSU students are also invited to attend. Unable to attend at this time? This webinar will be recorded and available to view here following the event.  

Pre-registration is required. A Pre-Registration form will be The Zoom link and password will be sent to your @pdx.edu email address 30 minutes before the webinar.
 


Virtual Registration Labs


Once you have finished online orientation, you’ll have access to register for your first term courses. However, you may still have questions about your degree map and selecting courses. Academic advisors and student Orientation Leaders are ready to assist during any of the drop-in Virtual Registration Lab dates, listed below:

  • Tuesday, December 1st: 10 am - 12:30 PST
  • Friday, December 4th: 2 pm - 4:30 pm PST
  • Tuesday, December 8th: 3 pm - 5 pm PST
  • Thursday, December 10th: 3 pm - 5 pm PST
  • Wednesday, December 16th: 12 pm - 2 pm PST
  • Friday, December 18th: 10 am - 12 pm  PST
  • Tuesday, December 22nd: 10 am - 12 pm PST

Pre-registration is required. The Zoom link and password will be sent to your @pdx.edu email address 30 minutes before the Virtual Registration Lab.

Resource Center Webinars

Connect with the campus resources most important to you! Before the start of the term, we’re hosting virtual meetings for new students in partnership with PSU’s Resource Centers.  Join us to learn more about  each center’s offerings for students, and how you can get involved.

Students with Children - 3:00 pm

Are you a student with children? Did you know that more than 20 percent of your fellow students currently attending Portland State University also have children? The Student Parent Orientation, presented by the Resource Center for Students with Children, is a great opportunity to hear about the resources, programs, events, and services available to assist and support student parents at PSU. Whether you recently enrolled, or plan to enroll soon, this orientation is a great opportunity to help ensure a successful transition. Pre-register for this event.

Queerientation - 4:00 pm

Join the Queer Resource Center staff to get connected with queer and trans community at Portland State. We'll learn about queer and trans resources and the community at PSU and have time to build community. Pre-register for this event.

Education Abroad 101 - 3:00 pm

Have you ever thought about taking your academics abroad? How about studying international business in Torino, Italy or your general undergraduate courses in Auckland, New Zealand? Ed Abroad 101 will introduce you to the basics of international education opportunities at PSU and how to choose a program that is (1) academically relevant, (2) personally fulfilling, and (3) financially feasible. Pre-register for this event.


Join the Campus Rec Community! - 4:00 pm

Welcome to the Campus Rec community! As a PSU student, you are automatically a Campus Rec member. Come learn about our virtual and in-person programs, activities, and events. Connect with Campus Rec staff and discover all that the Rec Center has to offer, including fitness, wellbeing, aquatics, intramural sports, rec clubs, inclusive recreation, and outdoor programs. Pre-register for this event.
