The Summer Institute on Youth Mentoring takes place at Portland State University (PSU) in Portland, Oregon. PSU is located in downtown Portland.

Finding us on the PSU Campus

The week-long institute takes place in the PSU School of Social Work and the Friday community event in the PSU Lincoln Performance Hall. 

 

Where to Stay

>>University Place Hotel

This budget-hotel is adjacent to the PSU campus. Participants in the Summer Institute are eligible for a reduced conference rate of $89/night for a room and should ask for rooms reserved for "Portland State University Summer Mentoring Institute." Make sure to make your reservation no later than July 5. Reservations can be made at (503) 221-0140 or 1-866-845-4647. 

>>Campus Housing

Dorm rooms on campus are available during the summer. A room with 2 twin beds, private bathroom, coffee pot, linens, etc. is $40. Rooms with a refrigerator are $50/night. >>Hotel Modera

A full-service hotel adjacent the PSU campus. The rate is $149/night + tax. Reservations can be made at (877) 484-1084. This popular hotel fills early for summer, so book your room as soon as possible.


Portland Hotels

PSU is at the southern end of the downtown district on MAX and streetcar lines so several hotels are very conveniently located nearby.

 

Ground Transportation

General

PSU is well served by buses and streetcars that make it easy to visit interesting parts of the city for dining, shopping, sight-seeing, etc. Information about travel to the PSU campus and around town can be found on the PSU website.

Airport shuttle/taxi

PSU is located approximately 20-30 minutes by car from the Portland Airport (PDX). Shuttles (which are approximately $15-20 one way) are also available. >> More Information

Airport rail

Travel from the airport to downtown is available by light rail on the "Red" Line ($2.40). The light rail leaves from near the baggage claim area on the lower level of the airport, takes about 40 minutes to get to downtown Portland, and has a stop approximately 7 blocks from campus (you can transfer to other light rail lines, buses or the Portland Street car to get all the way to PSU).
