Take Back the Night/ Bike Back the NightApril 28, 2011 Rally & Entertainment 6pm Bike Ride & March 7pm PSU Park BlocksTake
Back the Night and Bike Back the Night is a yearly event at Portland State University jointly sponsored
by the PSU Women's Resource Center and the Portland Women's Crisis Line. The main purpose of Take Back the Night
is to raise awareness of sexual violence in our community and provide a
place for students and members of the community to rally together and
speak out about this important issue. In true Portland style the event
includes a bike ride as well as a traditional march through the city. This year's event will
include an empowering evening planned with inspirational speaker/author Loretta
Stinson, music, education, and more!
Loretta
Stinson is a survivor of a fifteen year relationship with an abusive parter. She recently published a fictionalized account of her story through Hawthorne Books, titled Little Green. Parts of the proceeds from sales of the book are donated to the National
Domestic Violence Hotline.
