Sister to Sister is a new mentor program for returning women students, women veterans, women of color, and first generation students. Being a mentor is a great way to build your resume, network base, and work experience. To learn more attend and infmormation session in the Womens Resource Center, 1802 SW Montgomery, behind Simon Benson House. Sister to Sister is sponsored by the Womens Resource Center Empowerment Project. Portland Women's Film Festival

The Portland Oregon Women's Film Festival (POW Fest), in partnership
with the Women's Resource Center and the Women, Gender, and Sexuality
Studies Program at Portland State University, are pleased to announce
the second film in their Lives of Women screening series. SAY MY NAME
directed by Amsterdam-based film-maker, Nirit Peled, will screen
Friday, January 28, 2011, 7pm at the 5th Avenue Cinema. Cost: $5
suggested donation. Free to PSU students and faculty with valid ID.
Proceeds from the screening series will go towards supporting film
education for women. In an industry dominated by men and noted for
misogyny, the unstoppable lyricists of SAY MY NAME are mothers,
sisters, business women, role models and music artists. In the film,
they speak candidly about class, race and gender in pursuing their
passions as female MCs. From hip-hop's birthplace in the Bronx to the
ladies of grime on London's east side and points in between, this
worldwide documentary takes viewers on a vibrant tour of urban culture
and musical movement.

Healthy Relationships Group
Every Thursday starting January 13th 4-5:15pm Queer Resource Center
This group is open to all students who are queer, straight, questioning, or not sure. The group seeks to provide a confidential space to chat with other peers about how to maintain healthy, sustainable relationships and provides an experienced group facilitator.

WomenStrength Self Defense
Register now open for February classes
WomenStrength self-defense classes are designed to introduce teenage and adult women to a variety of strategies, including some survival level fighting skills, designed to help defend against sexual assault. The Portland Police Bureau believes that fighting can be an effective response to the threat of sexual assault.

Take Back the Night committee is looking for volunteers to help organize the event this year. Below is a list of volunteer titles and a short description of their dutties. If you would like to volunteer for this event e-mail Kari Anne or Elena at tbtn.psu@gmail.com.
- Publicity
We need 2-3 volunteers that will communicate with Newspaper, radio, and PSU media venues. A volunteer is also needed to set up a bulletin board display in Smith.
- Entertainment
1-2 volunteers needed to assist with the organization of entertainment.
- Fundraising
The Fundraiser coordinator will oversee the whole fundraising process and take care of the paperwork involved in processing the donations. 2-3 more volunteers are needed to contact PSU student groups and PCC WRC for co-sponsorship donations.
- Tabling
1-2 volunteers needed to organize groups/organizations to staff information tables at the event.
- Disability Access
1-2 volunteers needed to organize all aspects of making the event accessible.
- Volunteer Coordinator
1 volunteer needed to recuit, organize, and supervise volunteers.
- Food Donations
2 volunteers needed to secure food and coffee for the event.
We will also need many more volunteers to help with canvassing before the event and on the day of to help with set up and clean up afterwards.

We are seeking a workstudy student to assist with recruitment for our college women's leadership program, NEW Leadership Oregon, and our teen girls civic engagement program, Teens Lead and to provide general office assistance. The position will be located in our office (530 G) in the College of Urban and Public Affairs at Portland State University, which is on the streetcar and several bus routes.
Experience, Education and Qualifications
General clerical and computer experience required. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Must possess ability to work independently, to meet specific goals and timelines based on oral or written instructions.

Inter-Personal Violence Support Group

This is a weekly all-genders support group for self-indentified LGBTQ people who are experienceing or have experienced physical, emotional, sexual, or economic violence within an intimate relationships. Facilitated by a queer-identified advocate from Bradley Angle, this group is appropriate for any LGBTQ person who has left a violent or abusive situations, is thinking of leaving, or would simply like support and resources for understanding the dynamics of the violence in their relationship. Mom's Group

The Mom's group is a women's support group intended to be a safe splace for those who come out and identify as lesbian, gay, bi, transgender, or questioning - while sharing the bond of being a mother. Members listen, support, discuss their own relevant experiences, but stop short of giving advice or being the therapise. No onec comes to the group as an expert. Our common bod is that we are all seekers. We meet at Q Center every two weeks. The Mom's Group is aimed specifically at women with children, inclusive of diverse cultural & economic backgrounds identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trangender, or questioning.
