Women Veterans Outreach Action Team Friday, June 1st 3:30-4:30pm WRC Lounge The Women Veterans Outreach Action Team provides outreach to women veterans, raises awareness about the unique needs of women veterans, identifies resources for women veteran students, and works to create ties with Veterans’ Student Services. The Action Team typically meets twice a month, as announced. Women of Color Zine Symposium Saturday, June 2nd 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. PSU’s Smith Memorial Center Funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council and co-sponsored by the WRC The day will consist of tabling of zines, an open-mic and raffle session, a workshop lead by LaMesha Melton (creator of Cocoa/Puss zine), and will end with a performance by local all female/multi-cultural rap group, RoseBent. The main purpose of the symposium is to provide women of color with a way to connect with each other creatively, and to create a more visible presence in Portland of the women of color culture here. Sexual Assault Education Theater Performance Dates We all have opportunities to stop sexual violence before it occurs. We can keep an eye out for potentially dangerous situations and step in when we see something happening. However, it can be hard to know exactly what to do or say. Come to a performance of the Sexual Assault Education Theater Capstone Class, where students will perform a play they've written about sexual assault on campus. The performance is based on the Theater of the Oppressed Open Forum model, in which audience members are invited to stop and shift the action by joining the play, thereby practicing strategies for facing challenging situations and "rehearsing for the future." Women of Color Action Team Friday, June 8th Noon-1:00pm WRC Lounge The Women of Color Action Team serves the goals of the Empowerment Project at the WRC. The purpose of the Women of Color Action Team is to provide a space for women of color and their allies to focus solely on developing events that address the unique issues of women of color. It is an opportunity to network and build an empowered community of women of color on campus. This group meets bi-weekly. WRC Job & Volunteer Opportunities
Women's Resource Center The WRC is always in need of volunteers. There are many different ways to get involved. Come in to our lobby and fill out an application or click here to fill one out online.
- Front Desk
Staff the front office by greeting those coming in, answering phones, making appointments, and completing other duties as they arise. Connect students with resources and create a welcoming and encouraging environment for students to seek crisis services, develop skills, and build community. Help maintain our plants, kitchen area, and lounge space. Holds a weekly four hour shift.
- SheSheet Writer
Update the Women's Resource Center's blog by collecting and writing submissions for weekly or bi-weekly columns. Share important feminist news updates and reviews of campus and community events.
- Students United for Reproductive Freedom
Work to support the rights of people to make their own decisions about their own reproductive and sexual health and to have access to knowledge and resources to help make those decisions. Develop goals and hold events on campus and produce materials which engage students in relevant issues of reproductive justice. Meets weekly.
- Sister to Sister Mentor Program
A mentor program for returning women students, women veterans, student parents, women of color, and first generation students. Be partnered with another student and help them navigate campus resources and experiences.
- Love Your Body Action Team
Works to address issues of body Image and eating disorder awareness on campus. Creates programming materials which outreach to students as well as hold events and weekly meetings. Develop goals in conjunction with the WRC Director.
- Sustainability Action Team
Survey current practices and suggest sustainable improvements. Create ties between the Office of Sustainability and the WRC while working with the WRC Director. Identify and share connections with social sustainability, environmental sustainability, and women. Create programming materials as well as hold weekly/bi-weekly meetings with members.

WomenStrength Self Defense Registration now open for June classes WomenStrength self-defense classes are designed to introduce teenage and adult women to a variety of strategies, including some survival level fighting skills, designed to help defend against sexual assault. The Portland Police Bureau believes that fighting can be an effective response to the threat of sexual assault. To register for classes click here or call 503-823-0260.

Portland Women's Crisis Line PWCL is a volunteer-driven agency that operates with the support of dedicated members and volunteers. Volunteers may choose to provide direct services as advocates in the Crisis Line and/or the Sexual Assault Programs. Social & Support Groups The Q Center Inter-Personal Violence Support Group Every Wednesday 6:00-7:30PM Q Center 4115 N Mississippi Ave / Conference Room B This is a weekly all-genders support group for self-identified LGBTQ people who are experiencing or have experienced physical, emotional, sexual, or economic violence within an intimate relationship. Facilitated by a queer-identified advocate from Bradley Angle, this group is appropriate for any LGBTQ person who has left a violent or abusive situation, is thinking of leaving, or would simply like support and resources for understanding the dynamics of the violence in their relationship. Gender Queery Monday, June 4th 7:00-8:30PM Q Center 4115 N Mississippi Ave / South Room This is a discussion group for trans, genderqueer, folks outside-the-gender-binary, and allies. Meetings have great discussions on an ever-changing topic followed by informal social time and always takes place on the first Monday of the month. PWCL Support Groups To inquire about or sign-up for one of the following support groups, please call our 24-hour Crisis Line at 503-235-5333/888-235-5333. Support groups run for 10 weeks at a time and are usually in the evenings on a weekday. Call for current schedule. Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma Phase One Support Group For childhood survivors of trauma who have had little or no formal therapy. This group has an educational format. Topics include boundaries, self-care, coping strategies. Location: SE Portland Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma Phase Two Support Group For childhood survivors of trauma who have had formal therapy around their trauma or completed the phase one group. This is a process group. Location: SE Portland SASSE - Sexual Assault Survivors Support and Empowerment Group Support group for adult survivors of sexual assault.
