Alfonso Pioquinto, Jr - Heritage Tagalog
Alfonso Pioquinto, Jr. received his Ed.D. in 1995 from PSU in Post-Secondary Education. Alfonso also holds an M.A. in Education and B.A. in English from the Philippines. He has taught different courses at PSU, including Comparative Education, Global Studies, and Philippine Language and Culture. Besides teaching he is a professional Tagalog/Filipino interpreter/translator for the Oregon courts, U.S. Immigration courts, Language Line Services and other national and local interpreting agencies for hospitals and clinics. He is very active with non-profit organizations such as the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon (where he sits on the Board of Directors) and with the Portland Seafarers Mission (where he is currently president). He has lived in Oregon for over 20 years.
