Marjo Northup - Finnish

Marjo Northup is a native of Finland with a degree from the University of Helsinki, majoring in English and a minor in German translation and interpretation. She has been teaching first and second year Finnish classes at Portland State since 1991 and she has been involved with the Portland Finnish School as a teacher and a parent for the past decade. In 2005, she participated in a project planning curriculum for all the Finnish schools operating around the world. She is currently raising two bilingual daughters, with bilingual and multicultural issues close to her heart. She also works as a freelance translator and currently studies internet applications with hopes of integrating new technologies into Finnish language instruction.
