Dr. Shelly Potts has worked in the fields of in social science research,
assessment, and evaluation for nearly 20 years and has provided
consultation to over 175 colleges and universities. She is currently the
Director of the Office of University Evaluation and Testing and of the
Center for Learning and Teaching Excellence at Arizona State University.
In this capacity, Dr. Potts leads university assessment and evaluation
initiatives; oversees institutional assessment and evaluation projects;
directs the administration of testing and exam/instructor evaluation
processing; and oversees faculty development initiatives.
Dr Potts
regularly consults with faculty and administrators on all aspects of
assessment and program evaluation, accreditation, social science
research, testing, and grant writing. She also regularly advises
graduate students on thesis and dissertation projects, lectures on
assessment and evaluation topics, and teaches courses on assessment and
program evaluation. Dr. Potts is President-Elect of the Arizona
Evaluator's Network and serves annually as an evaluation consultant and
an invited speaker for the US Department of Education, FIPSE program.
She has evaluated projects for the National Science Foundation, the US
Department of Education, and the Ford and Alfred P. Sloan Foundations
for the past ten years.
Dr. Potts earned her Ph.D. in Educational Policy
Studies with an emphasis in educational research and evaluation from
Arizona State University in addition to degrees in psychology and
counseling from Purdue and Ball State University.
