Viewing the regional educational institutions as a system, rather than a collection of separate institutions, the purpose of the Policy and Practice Advisory Committee is to:
Develop an action research agenda to examine:
The pathways students follow to earn a baccalaureate,
The effectiveness of these pathways for student transfer rates and baccalaureate degree attainment;
These pathways and their effectiveness for individuals who are underrepresented in higher education, specifically low income, African American, Latino/a, and Native American students;
How current policies and practices that facilitate or hinder degree attainment.
Determine research questions and interpret data analyses related to the research agenda.
Direct the work with the Data Advisory Committee to:
Identify data requirements for research questions;
Produce data using both quantitative and qualitative methodology;
Analyze data.
From a system (rather than single institution) perspective, determine the implications of research findings for most promising practices and make recommendation for policy and procedures to improve student transfer rates and baccalaureate degree attainment.
