Leonie Sandercock, May 10, 2011.

The first annual event was held Tuesday, May 10, 2011 and brought film maker and academic Leonie Sandercock to Portland. Though a series of lectures and discussion, Sandercock shared her insights on "Finding our Way: film as planning intervention."

Sandercock currently teaches at the School of Community & Regional Planning at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Her research interests are wide-ranging and include cultural diversity and integration; participatory planning, democracy, and information and communications technologies; fear and the city; the importance of stories and storytelling in planning theory and practice; and the micro-practices of power, discourse, and institutions in urban governance.
