Profile: Meet Professor Charles Heying

Charles Heying, Ph.D
Associate Professor of Urban Studies and Planning

B.A. (history) 1967 Creighton University; M.C.R.P. 1988 Iowa State University; Ph.D. 1995 (political science) University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

His teaching interests include urban social structures, organization theory, policy analysis, community development methods, and theoretical perspectives on nonprofit organizations. His research interests include the interrelationship of private, nonprofit and public sectors in market economies; institutional network analysis; and elites, power, and social transformation. He has a special interest in developing interactive learning activities. These include small group class exercises, nontraditional student presentations, interactive computer exercises, and primary data research.
