Internships
The internship experience and workshop are an important element of the MURP program. They provide students with the opportunity to engage in direct professional experience and reflection, which coincide with their classroom education. MURP students are required to complete a minimum of 400-hours of internship work. Numerous opportunities exist for MURP students to locate an internship that matches their chosen field. In the past, MURP students have found internship placements with local government agencies, non-profits and private planning consultants. The internship requirement can be completed through a single placement; however students are encouraged to pursue a broad range of both substantive and organizational experiences. To support students in their internships, workshops are offered to assist students in locating a suitable placement as well as providing an opportunity for the student to develop reflective learning skills and practices regarding their work experience.
