Diversity at TSUSP

Above left: Created by artist Judy Madden Bryant and local high school students in 1993, a Northeast Portand mural quotes French microbiologist René Dubos: "Human diversity makes tolerance more than a virtue. It makes it a requirement for survival." Right: The entrance to Portland's historic Old Town Chinatown.

Promoting equity, celebrating cultural difference, and ensuring diversity among faculty and students are equally important to achieving our goal of providing students with the tools to develop healthy communities and achieve academic excellence.  The Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning (TSUSP) commitment to departmental diversity is illustrated in the following ways:

Diversity and Equity Committee

Faculty Research

Student Research and Graduate Workshops

Financial Support

Campus Support Services

At Portland State University, we recognize that diversity maximizes our potential for innovation and underscores our commitment to the communities we serve.  To encourage a diverse and inclusive environment, TSUSP reaffirms our policy for equal opportunity, which ensures equal access for all according to race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
