The Urban Center
Completed in 2000, the Urban Center is home to the PSU Bookstore, the Portland streetcar, the MAX light rail, and several restaurants and retail establishments serving the Portland State campus and surrounding neighborhood. The Toulan School's amenities include:
- Three seminar rooms
- A planning studio (for 36 students) and a site-planning studio (for 24 students).
- Student lounge with microwave, couches and sink
Computer Labs & A/V
The College of Urban and Public Affairs maintains two computer laboratories on the 2nd floor: The basic lab, with Macintosh and PC computers, and the GIS Research Laboratory.
The computer labs are staffed and open for student usage Monday through Saturday.
Students have direct access to a slide projector and overhead projectors owned by the School of Urban Studies and Planning.
The library is located on the 7th floor of the Urban Center Building. The library occupies approximately 1500 square feet and includes space for the library holdings, study desks for students and four computers. The library is staffed and open to students Monday through Friday and serves primarily as a resource for reference materials, including agency reports fro the Portland metropolitan region. A collection of the most recent reports is also available in the SUSP studio for use by the Planning Workshop.
The collection was supplemented several years ago with a major contribution of books and planning reports from retired planning educator H. Stuart Chapin. In addition, a recent endowment has been set up for the College of Urban and Public Affairs to increase the library holdings.
