A Discussion of Global Learning and International Sustainable Community Development with  Professor Richard White

Dr. Richard White leads a conversation of what students, faculty and Portlanders learned from seven summers of tramping through barrios, campos, squatter settlements, and slums of Nicaragua and Uganda.

Dr. White examines community development practice and learning from the field in Latin America and Africa. Are there really “best practices” in International Sustainable Community Development? Does a month in the Developing World make us better global citizens and better community developers or are we only academic tourists?
