Representing Disability: Disability Studies and the Humanities
Thursday, May 2, 2013 - 7:00pm to Thursday, May 23, 2013 - 10:00pm

The Portland Center for Public Humanities presents a new series for May 2013:

Representing Disability: Disability Studies and the Humanities

Despite the American with Disabilities Act of 1990, people with disabilities remain invisible and under-represented in the stories we tell about who we are as a community. Or, if they are represented, they are defined primarily by their disabilities. Representing Disability highlights the cultural history of disability to examine how our narratives of identity, community, citizenship and equality are implicitly shaped by what counts as “normal.”

Events in the Series:

All the events are free and open to the public. They are are co-sponsored by the English Department and the Disability Resource Center.
