Amanda Sanford, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of special education in the Graduate School of Education. Dr. Sanford's research interests include school-wide literacy, prevention-oriented literacy assessment and instruction, Response to Intervention, progress monitoring, and work with English-language learners. Dr. Sanford earned her master of arts in special education and a PhD in school psychology from the University of Oregon. She consults with schools and districts on implementing research-based reading practices and data-driven decision-making. She specializes in work with elementary reading programs and teaches literacy methods and assessment courses to Portland State University students earning their master's in special education.
