Saga Profiles

Saga profiles are designed to be brief descriptions of the people, places, things and activities that make Portland State such a vibrant, diverse community. Like other Saga content channels, profiles have detail views (a webpage of the profile itself), can be browsed by topic, and can be "advertised" in windlets on other pages. Profile windlets are one of the most dynamic parts of Saga pages as they show users a different profile on every visit to a page.

Saga sites like Admissions want to show off everything at Portland State and so have profiles windlets that show a different, random profile from all the profiles in Saga. The main Portland State site works in a similar way on most pages, but the home page shows a random profile from only those of sufficient quality to be featured on the home page (ie, they have decent copy and photos). Other Saga sites usually want to show off related things, and so have profiles windlets that show a different, random profile chosen only from those related to the site's main Saga topic (or subtopics).

What Can Be Profiled?

Gift (eg, a donation or gift to Portland State)
Graduate Student
Location (eg, a Portland State building, office, statue, etc)
Organization (eg, a Portland State department, office, organization, group, etc)
Publication
Research
Resource (eg, an informational resource or service at Portland State)
