Saga
Saga is a system to publish and manage website content at Portland State.
Saga 1.0
- separates content from presentation to enable information to be displayed in a variety of contexts and formats;
- categorizes content by topic to enable related items to be published together dynamically;
- enables non-technical users to author, edit and publish content using standard web browsers.
Saga stores content and related metadata in a database (Oracle) and delivers that content in the form of standards-compliant webpages generated dynamically via server-side scripts (PHP) and layout templates (Smarty).
Saga presents content to users dynamically through the combined interaction of several components: SITES, TEMPLATES, CHANNELS, and TOPICS. Saga 2.0Development is underway on the next generation of Saga, which will be based on the open source Drupal web content management system. We currently expect to be able to open Saga 2.0 for use by all Portland State academic and administrative departments during Winter term, 2008.
