Profile: Pollution Prevention

Restoring stream banks with plants and people.

Installing plants along stream banks helps keep stormwater runoff from polluting our waterways. That's just what 27,000 CommunityWatershed Stewardship Program volunteers have done to restore 50 acres of ourregion's watersheds. For professor BarryMesser, who leads this partnership with the City of Portland, the project cultivates both healthyenvironments and civic responsibility for students and community alike.
