The Undergraduate Advising and Support Center (UASC) provides academic
advising to the following students: newly admitted and newly enrolled
students (after they have attended an Orientation: Advising & Registration session); co-admitted students and prospective transfer students;students on academic
warning, probation or dismissal; and students who have not yet chosen a major.
University Advising Model: The University expects that all new
undergraduate students (both freshmen and transfer students) attend an Orientation: Advising & Registration (OAR) session prior to their first term at PSU. At the declaration of their major (by the end of their sophomore year), all undergraduates will be advised by
advisers in their major department. All undeclared undergraduates will continue
to be advised by the UASC. Students will need to declare their major by the end of their sophomore year.
What to expect from a UASC adviser:
An explanation of PSU's
general education and degree requirements
Information about PSU
policies and procedures
Help with exploring majors and
advice about appropriate introductory courses
Referrals to other campus
resources and services
Suggestions to increase your
academic success
How to see an adviser: The UASC provides academic advising both on a drop-in basis and by
appointment.
