Scott Burns, Geology faculty, gave a talk on "Urban Landslides: Challenges for Forensic Engineering Geologists" at the Geological Society of America (GSA) meeting in Charlotte, N.C., Nov. 6. This officially ended one year of lectures that Burns gave as the Richard Jahns Distinguished Lecturer, a national award given by the GSA and the Association of Engineering Geologists to the top engineering geologist in the United States. In that year, Burns gave 148 lectures in the United States and Canada from coast to coast. His audiences were university students and faculty and professional groups. Burns was on sabbatical during the year.
