This incredibly silly play is a raucous, modernist take on an ancient theatrical style, Commedia dell’Arte, featuring ridiculous characters pursuing love and singing the occasional song. All the familiar favorites are here: the chintzy father, the boorish doctor, the mixed-up lovers and of course, one sexy servant. This high/lowbrow mashup is a fast-paced, stylized adventure that shows us the roots of clowning, Moliere and farce from a here-and-now point of view.
