After Admission: Making A Successful Transition
So you've been admitted to Portland State - congratulations! We're happy to welcome you, new Viking, and you may be wondering what to do now.
Our Orientation crew has put together a handy checklist for you.
We asked other Vikings for advice on how to make a successful transition to PSU. Here's what they had to say:
Tour campus. Get admitted. Understand your transfer evaluation. Secure funding. Secure housing. Attend Orientation. Register early. Attend class. Go to the library. Make connections in class with classmates and the instructor. Meet with an adviser at least twice a year. Visit The Learning Center for help with math, writing, languages, and many other subjects. Join a student group. Make a friend. Take care of your health & well-being. Ask for help. Do the reading. Ask questions. Find support. Be proactive. Take advantage of the many services available to you through the university. Be sure you submit any final transcripts and Measles form no later than the beginning of your first term at PSU to avoid registration holds.
How about you?
What would you tell other students to help their transition to Portland State go as smoothly as possible? Send us your suggestion and then watch to see if we use it here!
