PSU Chamber Choir Benefit Concert: "A Smaller Drop in a Bigger Ocean"

The Portland State Chamber Choir is very excited to be invited to compete in both the 31st International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, Canada this July and in the 46th Annual Tolosa Choral Contest in Tolosa, Spain this coming October: two of the oldest and most prestigious competitions in the world.  

In preparation for these competitions, the Chamber Choir will present a BENEFIT CONCERT on Sunday, May 18 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church on SE 41st & Taylor, the finest acoustics for a choral concert in the Portland area. The program will include classical selections by Purcell and Bruckner, modern masterpieces by Barber and Esenvalds, as well as folksongs, spirituals, and world music. The Chamber Choir is honored to welcome guest conductor Carlos Kalmar of the Oregon Symphony who will lead the Chamber Choir in performances of Christus Factus Est by Anton Bruckner and the extremely challenging Wiigenlied by Per Norgard.

Anyone who donates $100 or more will receive a copy of our new DVD Bravissimo by Brian Robertson, an Emmy Award Winning videographer who traveled with us to Italy and produced this disc which includes live concert footage of our winning performances at the Seghizzi Competition and a 30-minute documentary about the tour itself.
