ARCH 120 (Visual Communication 1, instr. Jonathan Bolch), Fall 2013

Visual Communication 1 introduces architecture students to the practice of freehand drawing focused on the delineation of both interior and exterior space, starting with direct observation through to conceptual drawings of imagination. Use of different media and color including the study of light and light qualities are emphasized in the process of addressing the following questions: What is an act of drawing? How and what does drawing communicate? What does the medium contribute to the act of drawing? What does the maker contribute to the act of drawing? How do we see, interpret and make?
