Lincoln Hall


The School of Theatrer & Film is located in the historic Lincoln Hall (c. 1911), PSU's first building, together with the School of Music and the Office of the Dean, College of the Arts. In Lincoln Hall, the school has three theaters, Lincoln Performance Hall, Lincoln Studio Theatre, LH55, and Film production and screening facilities. Additionally, there are dedicated rehearsal, movement, design, and dance studios, and scenic, costume, production, and computer laboratories. The T&F Television Studio is in Neuberger Hall. Additional College of the Arts Media Labs provide alternate sites for the realization of student and faculty creative work.

Lincoln Performance Hall

Lincoln Performance Hall, is a mixed-use continental-style facility seating 475. It is one of the best production facilities in the region, with excellent auditorium, stagehouse, and backstage areas. The hall reopened in September 2010 after a major renovation of Lindoln Hall, which included enlargement of the stage and orchestra pit, improvements to the stage and lighting positions, enlarged green/dressing rooms, and improvements to auditorium and backstage handicap access, installation of new seating, and remodelled public restrooms.   ( Rental Information )


Lincoln Studio Theatre

Lincoln Studio Theatre seats 89 in an end-stage configuration, with dedicated lobby, dressing rooms, and backstage areas. It is used extensively throughout the year for smaller school productions, advanced directing student production projects, juries, guest lectures, and film screenings. The theatre includes a computerized, multi-preset lighting control system and sound control system.



Rehearsal Studios

The program houses the PSU Foundation Mainstage Rehearsal Studio, Loacker Acting Studio, Rippey Acting Studio, a Movement/Voice Studio, a Dance Studio, and two additional rehearsal studios for Theatre and Film praxis activities. Rehearsal studios each contain a complement of basic rehearsal furnishings, and  Movement and Dance studios are equipped with sound, dance floor, barres, and mirrors.

In the recent renovation, the PSU Foundation Mainstage Rehearsal Studio (left) was enlarged to accomodate the full stage dimensions of Lincoln Performance Hall, and further equipped with a stage lighting grid and sound/light locks.


Scenic Laboratory

The Theater & Film Scene Shop is located directly adjacent to the Lincoln Performance Hall stage, and a few steps away from the Lincoln Studio Theatre stage (pictured is the door to the stage). There are also laboratory spaces in lighting and sound, and over 3,500 sqft in scenic/property storage.










Costume Laboratory

In addition to the workroom (pictured) the costume laboratory has a dedicated laundry facility and a dye/craft shop, and over 2,000 sqft in costume storage onsite.
