The Mission of Testing Services is to support the Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) with exceptional, accessible, and comprehensive psychological and academic testing services to Portland State University students and the Portland community. This is accomplished through our commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of test administrations and adhering to National College Testing Association Professional Standards and Guidelines.

 

 

Locking up Your Items

SHAC Testing Services serves:

PSU Testers (Professors & Students)

PSU students can make-up course exams, be assessed for learning disabilities & ADHD, complete career assessments, and take the Institutional TOEFL. SHAC Testing Services can also administer tests for PSU students with testing accommodations that they receive from the Disabilities Resource Center (DRC).

National Testers

SHAC Testing Services only administers the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), the GRE Subject Tests (NOT the General GRE), and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).

Other Testers

This includes any student wanting to take non-PSU exams from their educational institution, people who want to take the College-Level Exam Program (CLEP) to receive college credit, and contract & licensure testers.

  • Adherance to professional proctoring standards.
  • Secure storage for personal belongings.
  • Distraction-reduced environment.
  • Computer- and paper-based testing.
  • High test security standards.
  • Adherance to PSU Code of Conduct.
  • Clean, low-distraction, and comfortable environment.
SHAC Testing Services subscribes to the National College Testing Association (NCTA) Professional Standards & Guidelines and is a member of the Consortium of College Testing Centers.

The following is NOT allowed in the testing room:

  • Food or drinks. You have the option of leaving food and drinks in the lobby to access during a break.
  • Non-permitted testing aids, such as backpacks or purses.
  • Hats.
  • Cell phones, which you cannot use at all during your test session.
