Site "TODOs"

This document gives an overview of some desired features, applications, additions, and updates to the Systems Science web site. These "TODOs" are collected here in the hope that future students or other potential site maintainers may be inspired to implement them.

Site "Look and Feel":

Note: these items will require communicating with the PSU Web Communications team to implement on the site, if SAGA is being used.

  • Design a logo for SYSC and get it added to the page banner.
  • Develop a unique color scheme and / or layout for the site.

Site Visibility:

  • Contact other Systems Science programs and see if they'd be interested in doing a link exchange.
  • Ensure that the site gets top billing for "hits" with major search engines for relevant topics.

Social Software and Additional Applications:

This software would not be managed through SAGA, but would be linked through SAGA-maintained pages. Access to the odin server to install and run applications will be necessary for anyone working on these items.

  • Calendar / Events--both for important Systems Science dates (e.g. comprehensive exams), and for any events of interest, such as conferences.
  • Wiki for sharing of ideas, informtion, creating a library of systems concepts, etc.
  • E-list or BBS for student communications.
  • Student pages, either managed trough a separate CMS or managed through SAGA; a way for students to create and update their personal and professional information.

Additional Site Content and Structure:

The image below (click to enlarge) shows a possible map of the site. Many of the items on the map already exist, but many don't. Adding the content and navigation for items that don't already exist will help to make the site more useful for everyone. (click image to enlarge)
