Portland State University, long known for working on urban issues in Portland, is now helping other cities.
PSU’s Urban Sustainability Accelerator will work with local governments in eight communities around the country in a year-long effort to help them implement sustainability projects.
The program will bring teams from participating cities to Portland in July for a three-day technical workshop, where they will meet with experts in sustainable urban development, green building and transportation.
The communities are: Waco and El Paso, Texas; Wichita, Kan.; Portland, Maine; Louisville, Ky.; and Sacramento, Elk Grove and Rancho Cordova, Calif.
The director of the PSU program is Robert Liberty, former Metro councilor and 1000 Friends of Oregon leader.
