Bob Sinclair and I met today to start getting organized for the course, and we are enthusiastic about teaching the class this summer!

We would like to schedule two initial 1-hour meetings during Spring Term, ideally on two Fridays, 5/26 and 6/9, sometime during the 2-5pm time window.

Further, we'd like to plan on an initial longer class meeting on Friday, 6/16, from 2 to ~5pm. At this meeting, we would solidify to the degree possible the consulting projects and teams, and also (if they are available and willing...I have not checked) ask two previous students (Susan Marcus and Dave Hall) to come and discuss their perspectives on the class and the projects with us.

We are tentatively thinking of covering the primary content on six afternoons (2-5 pm time slot) in last two weeks of June. We prefer Tu, W, Th of those two weeks, but we will consider input from the class regarding the specific days. On the last day of class, a take home exam would be handed out and would due back in 24 hours (most likely on Friday, 6/30) in order to get this out of way before the long 4th of July weekend. If this specific day presents a hardship for anyone, we will strive to arrange an alternative 24 hour period. Our expectation is that you would try to organize your time so that you could spend approximately 6-8 hours on this exam (not 24 hours straight).

July and August would focus on the consulting project. We'd meet at the end of August for presentations. In between, the team would meet occasionally with a faculty advisor or the equivalent.

To be able to actually finalize the consulting projects & teams at our mid-June meeting, we need to start lining up the organizations (non-profit or for-profit) where we will carry out the projects. Bob and I have some ideas, but we welcome your thoughts and ideas. For now, please reply to Bob and Wayne with your ideas and/or questions. We'll send a message to the whole group as appropriate.

We'd recommend that you wait until our first meeting before buying the book. We may or may not make changes in the readings for the course.
