Faculty discusses priorities for PSU's research, partnerships

Portland State’s myriad research and partnership activities are being pulled together in a strategic effort to better identify successes and to develop nationally recognized strengths that will move the university forward, PSU administrators said Jan. 19. 

“We potentially can be the best urban-serving university in the country,” said Jonathan Fink, vice president for Research and Strategic Partnerships. He spoke to about 150 faculty and staff members who gathered to discuss 2012 priorities for PSU at the annual winter symposium on campus. 

PSU leaders unveil new budget model

Portland State University leaders unveiled a new budget model Jan. 19 that will help the campus meet its academic and financial goals despite declining state funding. 

PSU joins dozens of other colleges and universities across the country in switching to a model that links funding allocation to performance and revenue generation in a simple, transparent and predictable way.

PSU and PCC renew and refine co-admission agreement to help students graduate faster

Portland State University (PSU) and Portland Community College (PCC) have streamlined their co-admission agreement to make it easier for students to take classes on both campuses, live in PSU residence halls and complete their degrees.

PSU President Wim Wiewel and PCC District President Preston Pulliams plan to sign the agreement at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at PCC's Downtown Center, 722 SW 2nd Ave., Portland.

PSU campus is open Tuesday

Portland State University's campus is open Tuesday and following a regular schedule. If weather conditions worsen, any scheduling changes will be posted on the pdx.edu home page. 

The National Weather Service in Portland predicts a mix of rain and snow showers near the valley floor on Tuesday with the snow level at about 500 feet. There is a potential for significant accumulation in the Portland area Tuesday night and Wednesday. Milder but wet and windy weather is expected arrive late Wednesday and last through next weekend.
