After a decade as a skilled and compassionate medical assistant in his hometown, Gresham, Evan Mitchell is close to completing a pre-med biology degree at Portland State. Becoming a physician is the logical next step for Mitchell.

Professor emeritus Duncan Carter passes away

Duncan Carter, professor emeritus of English, passed away February 22, 2016. He was 69. Prof. Carter died peacefully at home after nearly six years of defying prostate cancer. He was surrounded by friends and family, including his wife, Jan Kurtz. A celebration of life is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Westminster Church in Northeast Portland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Duncan Carter Writing Award at PSU (through the PSU Foundation), the Oregon Food Bank or a favorite charity.

Set to graduate in four years or less

At just 19, Portland-native Jose Lopez Delgado is already a junior and well on his way to graduating from the School of Business Administration as part of the University’s innovative Four-Year Degree Guarantee Program.
